Musicians Prince Indah and Samidoh Collaborate on New Film
Popular ohangla music maestro Prince Indah and his mugithi counterpart Samidoh have collaborated to produce a new film Kienyeji. The movie will premiere on 8th June at the KICC Comesa Grounds.
Prince Indah and Samidoh are executive producers of the highly anticipated cultural themed film that will star Nyokabi Macharia and Ywaya Xavier.
According to the producers, the film “adopts a cultural, rich theme through an infusion of Ohangla and Mugithi music.”
Samidoh is one of the most popular new age singers in the Kikuyu language, pulling crowds wherever he goes both in and out of Kenya. He is not new to controversy though through his much-publicized relationship with Senator Karen Nyamu.
Prince Indah is another new age big name pulling crowds at various entertainment spots around the world belting out songs in dholuo language.
While musicians singing in local Kenyan languages with traditional culturally themed beats and instruments are among the most successful entertainers, it is just recently that native language films have started gaining momentum. However, theatre plays produced in local languages have been around for decades.
